Founding Engineer (Eng #4)

Revenue Vessel

About Us:

Revenue Vessel is a growing, venture backed software company on a mission to revolutionize how logistics companies sell. In 13 months, we’ve built a product that our customers love, hundreds of thousands in ARR (doubled in the last 3 months), and a path to grow to over a $1.8M in revenue in the next 12 months. Most notably, we’ve only spent as much cash as our current revenue, meaning that we’re already an efficient business.

Revenue Vessel is operating in the highly-specialized vertical of logistics, but we’re doing something totally different than other logistics software companies. While other companies sell to operations teams that have entirely unique, mission critical processes, we’re taking advantage of a key secret: every logistics team sells roughly the same, and all of them are poorly served right now.

The three co-founders have strong backgrounds in the space: former Head of Demand Gen at Flexport, former top performing SDR manager at Flexport, former Head of Eng at Rutter API, respectively.

This could be a billion dollar business, and we don’t need to compete with other Silicon Valley founders in order to get there. We just need your help to pull it off.

Role Overview:

You will be joining an engineering team of 4, all former startup veterans, as a senior technical IC. You will be given a large chunk of responsibility over the product, and as an early member of the team, you will be a key part of shaping our culture, growing the company, and building an amazing product. You will be expected to tackle projects across front end, backend, or data engineering.

For one role, we’re looking for an engineer who can help us the underlying data infrastructure that can support the definitive customer record for this industry. We still need our engineers to be generalists, so we want some full-stack experience, but if you love backend and data, we have a spot for you building something exciting.

For our other open role, we’re looking for an engineer who dreams about talking to customers, mapping out requirements, and then spitting out code faster than Cursor’s terrible memory management can handle.

You will LOVE this job if:

  1. You want to work closely with smart, high integrity, personal growth-oriented co-workers.
  2. You enjoy working independently and quickly on things.
  3. You are a product-oriented or data-oriented engineer who cares first and foremost about solving customer problems.
  4. You are excited to take radical ownership of features and systems.
  5. You love being in the thick of it all, understanding the whole workings of a startup, and building a plane as we fall from the sky.

This job is NOT for you if:

  1. You want the immediate cushy and chill life that a large, stable tech company provides.
  2. You find yourself excelling in highly-structured, hoop-jumping cultures.
  3. You are worried about taking on personal risk.
  4. You want to move into engineering management in the next two years (we probably won’t hire a big team for a while) or build a big team around you.

In order to excel here, you will need to:

  1. be the type of person who never shies away from a problem just because you haven’t done it before.
  2. Learn quickly and teach yourself new concepts as needed
  3. Be familiar with our tech stack (TypeScript, Next.JS, TypeORM, React, Postgres, Heroku)
  4. Be familiar with full-stack web development as well as backend/data work, and excel at one of them.
  5. Write solid code quickly and understand when speed trumps quality and vice versa.
  6. Communicate incredibly well and proactively communicate status and priorities.

A typical week might involve building a new feature, polishing the product for a 10/10 customer experience, and scaling our systems as our user count grows.

Company Values:

The company values these things. If you’re excited about this, we’re excited about you. If these aren’t you, then we’re probably not the right place.

  1. Brutal focus: We do one thing at a time, and we do it extremely well. Right now, we’re building sales tools for logistics companies. We say no to everything else, even if someone was waving a $1M check in front of our eyes.
  2. Too high integrity: We believe that integrity in business is incredibly important. We’d happily lose some money if it meant doing right by a customer or prospect.
  3. Improve and Get Better Every Day: We believe in making the business and ourselves 1% better every day. As we make more money, we plan to re-invest most of it in improving our existing team as well as our processes. We give and take kind, candid feedback, and we’re always looking for ways to become better.
  4. You want to build a money printing machine: We believe that at the end of the day, the only thing that matters is cash in vs cash out.

What We Offer:

  • Fully remote work environment with flexible hours
  • Extremely Generous equity (we want you to feel so invested in the company's success that you make away like a bandit)
  • Competitive cash comp
  • For US employees, top-tier health insurance, dental, (optional) life insurance, (optional) therapy through talkspace

Application Process:

Our interview process includes a round of interviews focused on your technical skills and problem-solving approach. Once we’re sure you can code, we have another interview focused on culture fit.

Digital Marketing Coach

6 Figure Creative

Dear Future Marketing Coach,

We're looking for a Coach who is amazing at helping freelancers implement the marketing plans we create for them.

This role is a top priority at 6 Figure Creative. Why? Because our flagship coaching program, Clients By Design, is growing fast, and our current coaching team only have a few spots left on their rosters.

The #1 struggle most creatives face is that they have no idea where their next client is coming from, and everything we do inside Clients By Design is to help creative freelancers solve that problem (for good).

We joke that our mission is to plunge humanity into chaos by helping all eight billion people become 6 Figure Creatives. The reality is that our mission is to help one person at a time with a 1-on-1 relationship, and that's where you come in.

If the idea of working 1-on-1 with some of the most talented freelancers in the world (for example, Grammy-winning music producers) to help solve the #1 issue freelancers face, then keep reading...

What You'll Do:

As a Marketing Coach, your role is to help your roster of 50-75 clients successfully execute the Continuous Clients Marketing Roadmaps that are custom-tailored for them.

You'll give them feedback as they work through implementing our playbooks, help them overcome any roadblocks holding them back from making progress, and you'll be responsible for holding them accountable for completing their roadmaps.

As a Marketing Coach, you will own your client's success in the program. You'll also work closely with Brian Hood (founder) to create and deploy better playbooks and resources to support all of our clients.

Here are your 3 main responsibilities:

  • Client Onboarding: You will get each of your clients up to speed so they have a full understanding of how to get the most out of this program. You'll ensure they feel taken care of (instead of "lost in the shuffle"), and they know exactly what to do during their crucial first 30 days.
  • 1-on-1 Client Attention: You'll help your clients progress through their playbooks and marketing plan with the confidence of knowing they're not making major mistakes along the way. You will give them the feedback and support they need to get past any roadblocks, as well as the accountability and encouragement necessary to keep going for the long haul.
  • Conflict Resolution: You will quickly and effectively resolve conflicts within your client roster so that everyone is happy, encouraged, and taking action toward completing their marketing plans.

The decisions you help your clients make will change the trajectory of their lives forever, so this role is not for the faint of heart. You HAVE to be willing to do what it takes to help someone make tough decisions with their best interest in mind.

In your role as a Marketing Coach, you'll be accountable for three numbers:

  1. Monthly Client Retention: The % of your client roster you retain each month.
  2. Total # of clients on your roster: Part of your compensation is based on this number.
  3. Client Happiness Score: The % of clients who give you a positive rating each month.

What Success In This Role Looks Like:

Your #1 outcome over the next six months: 50+ clients on your roster with 95%+ of your roster retained each month.

30 Day Targets

  • You know our playbooks and coaching process well enough to start onboarding new clients
  • You've onboarded your first few clients

60 Day Targets

  • You know our playbooks backward and forwards
  • You're up to 15 active clients on your roster

90 Day Targets

  • You've ramped up to 25-30 active clients and you're ready to take on more
  • Your Client Happiness Score is 95%+

180 Day Targets

  • You have 50+ clients on your roster
  • 95%+ of your clients are retained each month
  • Your Client Happiness Score is 95%+

Who you'll work with:

You will report directly to Brian Hood, our founder (i.e. the guy writing this job description).

I'll work with you to become a better coach, grow and develop personally and professionally, and possibly even grow into a larger role as we scale

You'll be the 6th coach to join our team, which means you'll be a part of a growing small team.

My goal for you is for you to absolutely LOVE what you do and also be fulfilled by the impact you're making on the clients you serve.

What you'll learn

If you crave variety in your work and love the idea of helping people overcome brand-new challenges every single day, this is your potential dream job.

Not only will you be affecting the lives and businesses of the clients you coach, but you'll also be impacting each and every client they work with as well.

During your time working alongside us, you'll learn

  • The intricacies of what it takes to create strong and lasting relationships with our clients and make a meaningful impact in their lives.
  • How to build systems that provide support to each and every client as they develop their own client acquisition machines.
  • The inner workings of the 6 Figure Creative, as well as the hundreds of different businesses we work with.

If you've been running your own business, but you're feeling the drain of working "alone in a cave" these past several years, you'll love the amount of human-to-human interaction you'll have at this role. Two of our coaches have (or built and sold) their own marketing agencies.

If you come from the startup community and you're burnt out from working long hours while wearing multiple "hats" at your company, you'll love the focus and structure this role will bring you. Three of our coaches were heads of marketing a 7 figure, multi-7 figure, and even an 8 figure startup.

If you come from corporate America and you're tired of feeling like a small cog in a massive machine, you'll love the amount of direct impact you'll have on your clients' lives in this role. So far, no of our coaches came from corporate america... but maybe you could be the first?

Join me in creating a positive impact and making a lasting difference in the world of creative freelance businesses.

Where you'll work:

We're a 100% remote company with a small, tight-knit team of 10 people spread across the globe — from Vermont, New Jersey, Nashville, Oregon, Las Vegas, Pennsylvania, and California to Portugal, Romania, and even New Zealand. You can work from wherever you do your best work.

  • Coffee shop? Cool.
  • Your own home office? Even better.
  • Costa Rica for the summer? Send us pics pls.
  • We care more about outcomes than clock-ins.

Why We Exist As A Company:

The reason 6 Figure Creative exists as a company is to help freelancers earn more money without selling their souls.

Our flagship coaching program, Clients By Design, solves the #1 problem holding freelancers back from success: They have no idea where their next client is coming from.

The program is built around creating highly-personalized marketing plans for our clients and coaching them through every single step of the process as they implement each playbook.

We believe that the education system is fundamentally broken. Universities will gladly charge their students $100k+ for a creative degree and never teach them the most important skills and strategies for how to actually get an ROI from their investment.

The coaching program you'll be a part of exists to help the best creatives in the world change the trajectory of their careers (and lives) by learning the skills universities failed to teach them.

It takes more than passion to succeed, and everything we do is built around giving our clients the strategies, tools, processes, guidance, coaching, and accountability they need to have successful businesses.

I look forward to working with you!

-Brian Hood
Founder

P.S. Here's the complete hiring scorecard for this role.

Requirements

What We're Looking For

Required (don't have these? Please don't apply.)

  • You are a complete marketing nerd who has 5+ years of digital marketing experience
  • You LOVE diving into a broken marketing machine to find the root cause of why it's not working.
  • You have exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage dozens of clients and priorities simultaneously without letting things slip through the cracks
  • You have strong leadership and coaching skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire clients
  • You are an excellent communicator, and comfortable on video
  • You are detail-oriented enough to add the words "client acquisition machine" to your application (bonus points if it's shoehorned into your Loom video with a nod and a wink).
  • You are confident, and never shy away from a challenge

Preferred Qualifications:

Nice to have stuff that sets you apart

  • You have been paid to coach clients (or team members) in digital marketing
  • You are available to coach full-time (40 hours per week) during normal US working hours
  • You have experience working with clients in various remote settings including email, online communities, asynchronous video, and synchronous 1-on-1 zoom calls
  • You have a gift for helping other people feel like the most important person on the planet while talking to and working with them
  • You have a background as a successful creative freelancer
  • You live +/- 1 hour of Central Standard Time

Benefits

  • Work from home (or anywhere in the world) - we're 100% remote!
  • Health, vision, and dental insurance for you and your family
  • $250 monthly home cleaning service (because nobody loves cleaning, right?)
  • $1,000/yr home office upgrade allowance

Compensation: $65,000-$125,000+

  • Salary: $55,000
  • Variable Compensation: $10,000-$70,000+

Your variable compensation is based on the number of active clients on your roster plus the number of new clients successfully onboarded each month. We add more clients to your roster as long as you're hitting your target KPIs. (See the hiring scorecard for compensation details)

Job Title: Part-Time Travel Concierge Specialist

Location: Remote, Americas time zones

Hours & Pay: $20 / hour · 4–8 hr shift blocks · minimum 20 hrs/week, up to 48 hrs/week

Reports to: Head of Operations

Why This Role Exists

When flights cancel at 2 am or a passport issue pops up the night before departure, travelers need calm, fast, human help. You’ll be that trusted voice—backed by our AI tools—who rescues the trip and wins lifelong loyalty.

What You’ll Do (Shift Blocks)

  • Respond within 10 minutes to urgent phone/email/Slack alerts; triage what’s truly critical.

  • Search for and book air travel, hotels, car rentals, and transfers. For flights, this may also include looking for point deals (we will train you how to be a travel hacker).

  • Rebook or re-route disrupted flights using our tool or airline websites and confirm new tickets.

  • Issue refunds, file EU/US compensation claims, and track voucher balances.

  • Handle simple exchanges (date/time changes, seat moves) for clients.

  • Proactively scan travel issues during your shift for schedule changes or weather risks; flag solutions before the traveler asks.

  • Document every action in our CRM— no loose ends for the next shift.

  • Escalate edge-case pricing or ticketing errors to senior ops quickly.

Must-Haves

  • Native English speaker: Extremely strong written and verbal English skills with no accent.

  • Service reflex: you naturally reassure stressed travelers in crisp, empathetic English.

  • Dependability: if you’re on the roster, we can count on you; 100% on-shift response SLA.

  • Fast learner: comfortable juggling chat, phone, and two browser-based tools at once.

  • Professional home work-station: high-speed internet, quiet, etc.

  • Practical judgment: you instinctively steer travelers toward the option they actually need—even when they’re not sure themselves.

  • Self-starter mindset: you’re comfortable making decisions and moving work forward without hand-holding.

  • Ego-free collaboration: when you hit a roadblock, you ask for help instead of guessing in silence.

  • Pressure poise: stressed or angry client? You stay calm, empathic, and laser-focused on solutions.

  • Able to pass a background check

Nice-to-Haves

  • Sabre, Amadeus, or Galileo experience (we’ll train the right person).

  • Experience with points/loyalty redemptions or boutique/luxury travelers.

What We Offer

  • Predictable shift bidding two weeks in advance; swap in our scheduling app.

  • Paid training & GDS certification pathways.

  • Quarterly performance bonus tied to CSAT + first-contact resolution.

  • Travel perks after 6 months (industry rates, standby benefits).

  • A ladder: top performers can scale to 30-40 hrs, salaried roles, or product/QA rotations.

If friends ask you which backup flight to book when storms hit—apply.

If you read this far, put The Time Machine by H. G. Wells for the appropriate question.

Frontend Engineer

Mobena

Mobena is a three-person, remote-first startup building the “evolution” of multi-generational tax/estate planning software, targeting the advisors of America’s 2 million wealthiest families. We’re currently hiring our first dedicated UI Engineer to “own” the frontend of our flagship product, Mobena Evolution, for which we have little to no frontend code. You’ll work directly with our backend/algorithm-focused CTO, as well as our designer-founder, to turn evolving Figma concepts into fast, maintainable, and scalable user interfaces.

What You’ll Do

  • Choose and justify the frameworks and tools that best fit our needs.
    • We have some holdover prototype code in Vite JS, but you can take it or leave it; all of our Figma concepts are new.
    • The backend is a standard HTTP API. We are open to everything from established web stacks (React, Angular, Svelte, Vite) to cross-platform or native solutions (Qt, WASM, .NET MAUI, Tauri, Electron, Tk)—literally anything, if you can convince us it’s the right choice.
  • Build our UI from the ground up, establishing clear, maintainable patterns for components, state management, styling, testing, performance, and accessibility.
  • Collaborate to refine and sometimes re-frame existing screen designs in Figma.
  • Connect the frontend to our APIs (REST, GraphQL, or similar).
  • Lay groundwork for future mobile clients; however, experience in this regard is a plus rather than a requirement.

About You

  • You’ve shipped an interactive application—web, desktop, or mobile—via coursework, open source, side project or professional work.
  • You care about usability and design quality. (That is, you care about the user.)
  • You learn by doing: building things rather than sitting in committee.
  • You are happy to say I don’t know. We try to cultivate “beginner’s mind” at Mobena—it helps us avoid conventional traps and groupthink. The first step of thinking like a beginner is acknowledging your own ignorance! 😊
  • You can defend your technical choices in clear English, and can take credit for your successes as well your mistakes.
  • You are comfortable in an early-stage, collaborative environment.

This position requires someone who is highly organized and solution-oriented with great communication skills, both written and verbal. This requirement applies to internal communication with staff and external communication with agency contacts and users.

This role reports to the Customer Support Manager.

In order to do this, the Customer Support Specialist will need to be proficient at navigating MuckRock’s platform, services, and tools, with the ability to onboard new users and host trainings.

  • Within 9 months: Success will be measured by the ability to work autonomously and decreased time to resolve user inquiries and internal flags. The Customer Support Specialist will also contribute to plans to improve documentation and user experience.

  • Within 15 months: The Customer Support Specialist should have an expert understanding of  MuckRock’s goals, visions and projects with the ability and confidence to proactively apply them to solve problems and suggest operational improvements.

We’re excited about you because you are..

  • Skilled Communicator: Proficient at guiding users through solutions, supporting new user onboarding and training, and serving as the liaison between users and agencies.

  • Embrace New Technology: MuckRock is building and partnering with new platforms and emerging technologies to help drive oversight of government. You’re excited to tinker with, try out, and provide feedback on products that have rough edges as well as high potential, and are eager to learn and teach yourself how things work.

We recognize that diverse teams make the strongest teams, and we encourage people from all backgrounds to apply. We also recognize that we are seeking a wide range of skills and experience for this position, and not all candidates will be an exact match for all criteria as laid out in the job description. Amazing customer support job

Cliniko

We are hiring a couple of amazing people to join the team at Cliniko to help with supporting our customers during UK business hours. Most of our customers are healthcare business owners and we love helping them get the most out of Cliniko. We don't care too much about your experience or credentials; we’re far more interested in your personality, passion, and work ethic. A sense of humour helps a lot too!

What is Cliniko?

Cliniko is practice management software that makes life easy for allied health professionals by handling appointment scheduling, storing treatment notes, running video consultations, and much more. The software is used globally by more than 100,000 people every day.

Our team

Behind Cliniko is a team of 57 people, spread around the world. We work completely remotely, although our base is in Melbourne, Australia. We care more about finding the best person for the job than looking for someone that lives nearby.

We don't have managers, we almost never have meetings, and there are no time sheets to complete. We're responsible, autonomous, creative, and proactive in doing our best for our customers. We're focused on making great software and we take pride in doing good work. It’s also important to us that we have a positive impact on the world.

If you want to know more about how we work, our founder, Joel, gave a talk about it.

What you'll work on

You’ll spend your time supporting Cliniko customers. This includes:

  • Responding to chat/email messages from existing customers.

  • Helping people decide if Cliniko would suit their business.

  • Communicating with people via social media.

  • Working with our developers to resolve issues.

  • Working with third party integrators to solve customer problems.

Our goal is to do right by our customers in every single interaction, so you'll be empowered (and expected) to provide amazing support.

Requirements

We are looking for someone to help with coverage during UK business hours (9am to 5pm GMT). We also need the successful person to help with some coverage over the weekend.

We won't consider applications from anyone intending to work outside of these hours; your work day should entirely fall within 6am to 7pm in your local time zone. We understand that some people consider themselves "night owls”, but this won't be a reason to consider you for this role. Instead, please keep an eye out for when we’re hiring in a more suitable time zone for you. We care greatly about the health of our team and their ability to work with us long term. We want to make sure the job is a positive in their lives, and we believe working during daylight hours is important for that.

About you

You want to work in a place where you can do your best work and have fun too. You want to constantly improve. You have empathy and can place yourself in the shoes of the people using Cliniko.

You have superb English skills (both verbal and written). You are able to communicate your thoughts in a friendly, accurate, and jargon-free way. You appreciate a good Oxford comma.

No matter what your background is, or how you identify, if you feel you would be a great fit here, we encourage you to apply. We are committed to the continual diversification of the team and working to constantly improve our inclusivity, which is crucial to how we work.

How we work

Here are some things that we do a little differently to enable people to do their best work and live a happy life:

  • 30-hour work week, full-time pay.

  • Flexible hours.

  • Work from anywhere.

  • Unlimited annual leave (minimum 4 weeks per year).

  • Supplied computer equipment.

  • Ergonomic furniture.

  • Fresh organic fruit delivered weekly to your home.

  • Overseas trips for team meet-ups.

  • No managers.

  • No scheduled meetings.

The salary for this position will be £46,000, or equivalent in your local currency.

The pay is based on the work you'll do with us and the value you'll add to our team. Don't be discouraged if this is above your previous earnings. Your income history is not part of our decision making.

In summary

We're looking for someone special. We don't hire often and when we do, we can get thousands of applicants. We will do our best to offer you a job you can love, and one that lets you achieve your best, but we also expect you to do your part.

You should be absolutely passionate about providing amazing support. You should take pride in your work and be excited to do it.

How to apply

After you hit the "Apply now" button, you be taken to the application form with a few questions. The “short friendly summary” field needs to give us enough information to be interested in taking you to the next stage. We typically get a lot of applications, so please put some effort into this section. Notably, there's no resume or cover letter submission, so this is your spot to give us some insight into who you are. Be yourself, there’s no need for formality!

There will also be a few other short questions that will require some searching on our website. It's important to answer all of them correctly, as we won’t consider any applications that get any of these wrong.

We recommend not using AI to help you with your application. ChatGPT’s personality just isn’t going to make the cut and get past the first round. As well as probably leading to your application being rejected, you will not be able to rely on AI in the support role that you're applying for. Although we continually test AI tools to see if they can be useful in our workflow, our support team currently doesn't use them because we have found they can lower the quality of our work.

Note: While the form does allow you to upload a resume, it’s only to pre-fill the contact fields for you. We won’t actually see the resume.

Applications are open until the 23rd May, of 2025 at 11:59 pm GMT.

What you can expect after applying

Once you’ve applied, sit back and relax while we get to work on our side! We’ll be reviewing all the applications as they come in and we’ll get back to you within 2 weeks after applications close. Everyone will hear back from us, successful or not.

If we select you, the next stage will be a short 5 minute chat with our founder, Joel. Following the chat, if you’re still a contender, there will be a support task to complete. These tasks are paid.

Lastly, you’ll meet with some people from our team and then we’ll make the final decision on who we hire. This is the exciting part for us and hopefully also for you. This will happen fast, and the start date will be chosen by the applicant.

We know it’s quite a process to go through, so we want to make sure you know what you’re in for up front. We’ll be transparent with everyone along the way.

One final note, unfortunately due to the quantity of applications we receive, we are not able to provide feedback for those not successful in the first round. In the later stages, we’ll do our best to provide what we can, if requested.

Good luck!

About Us:
We’re a fast-growing SaaS company building powerful tools that help agencies and local businesses streamline their digital marketing and operations. Our platform is full of rich features — and we’re looking for a UX designer who can help make them feel effortless.

We’re a remote-first team, moving fast and building with purpose. You’ll be joining a product-led environment that values clarity, usability, and smart design decisions.

Full Stack Javascript Developer (Shape Up + Small team)

Inovo Studios

Tribe Social is a dynamic platform that fosters community engagement and content creation through a robust social infrastructure. We empower creators and users alike with real-time interactions, media sharing, and seamless integration across web and mobile.

We are seeking a talented Full-Stack JavaScript Developer to join our team and contribute to building and scaling our platform. We want builders—not just coders.

If you thrive in an environment where autonomy, ownership, and impact matter, you’ll love working with our team.

Our Application Process

We work async as much as possible, so most of this process will be automated.
  1. Fill out this application
  2. Schedule 25 min intro call
  3. Schedule 90 min code review
  4. Paid sample project

Pro Tip:
Writing and recording video is our primary form of communication, so leverage that!

Our tech stack:

  • Backend: Node.js with Sequelize ORM for MySQL
  • Frontend: React.js with TailwindCSS
  • Mobile: Flutter (built using FlutterFlow)
  • Databases: MySQL for web/core app, Firebase for mobile app
  • CI/CD: CircleCI for testing and deployment
  • Media Processing: LivePeer for video transcoding

How We Work

At Tribe Social, we don’t follow traditional Agile, Scrum, or Kanban methodologies. Instead, we embrace Shape Up from 37 Signals, a product development framework designed to avoid endless planning, micromanagement, and scope creep.
  • Fixed Time, Variable Scope – We work in monthly cycles with clear priorities. We decide how much time we want to spend on a problem and shape solutions to fit within that timeframe.
  • Shaping Before Betting – Work isn’t thrown into a backlog. Before a project gets scheduled, we shape it—defining the problem, solution, risks, and constraints upfront. Only well-formed ideas make it to development.
  • Small Teams, Full Ownership – Developers and designers work in small, autonomous teams. No micromanaging. No back-and-forth over tiny details. The team decides how to execute within the defined problem space.
  • Integrated Workflows – Instead of breaking work into rigid "frontend" and "backend" tasks, we focus on delivering end-to-end solutions.
  • No Endless Meetings – We believe in asynchronous work. Updates are written, decisions are documented, and meetings are rare but meaningful.

Engineering Technical Lead - Node.js - EMEA

Hostaway Opco Oy

NOTE: This is a FULLY remote role, but the candidate must be within the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) region in order to collaborate with their team, peers, and customers. You do not have to be in the specific country or city shown in this listing, but please do not apply if you are not physically based within the EMEA region.

Please note that although this position offers the flexibility of remote work, it requires a full-time commitment to supporting Hostaway exclusively

Hostaway is a SaaS startup that is transforming the vacation rental industry. With innovative solutions and partnerships with giants like Airbnb, VRBO, and Booking, we're taking on the competition and winning. Leveraging our customer-centric core values, we consistently deliver results that encourage growth, learning, and innovation for our team, our customers, and the industry.

As a profitable and growing company, this role is necessitated by our continued growth

About the role

Tech Leads within Hostaway are in a pivotal technical leadership role to ensure their cross-functional team builds the right solutions that solve customer problems in a way that is secure, extensible and scalable for the future. Tech Leads are expected to govern the technical maturity for their respective domain, having a clear view of the architectural challenges and how to remediate them over time.

Having a close relationship with the domain’s Product Manager is key. While the PM brings the what, you are their peer responsible for bringing the how. Digging deep into the business problem the PM is trying to solve is key to be able to make the right decisions on how to shape the technical solution for the team to work on.

You are supported by an Engineering Manager who will help guide the day-to-day delivery aspects of the team, ensuring we break work down into tangible small tasks, focus on a sustainable but high-performing delivery cadence, and ensure we have the right candidates in place.

Requirements:
  • 6+ years of experience in SaaS software development, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Expert-level proficiency in NodeJS, a strong preference for TypeScript
  • Strong understanding of relational databases (like MySQL or PostgreSQL)
  • Familiarity with transitioning event-driven service oriented architectures by applying Domain Driven Design (DDD) principles
  • Event driven messaging experience (i.e. Kafka, Kinesis).
  • Strong experience with unit testing (using jest or similar)
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and CI/CD practices.
  • Ability to balance technical debt with delivery of new features in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have skills for this role:
  • Experience with NoSQL databases (like DynamoDB or MongoDB)
  • Experience building cloud native apps, leveraging AWS managed services
  • Having used PHP in the past or not afraid to dive into some of the current PHP business logic
  • Applying, coaching and mentoring Extreme Programming (XP) agile practices
  • Front-end experience with React and micro-frontends
  • Knowledge of containerisation technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and DevSecOps practices

An Average Day for a Tech Lead
  • 10:00-10:15 Quick team stand-up, one of your team members seem to be working on a problem you worked on before, and offer to pair with them after the stand-up to support
  • 10:30-14:00 Pairing with one of your team members to work on a complex scalability issue together and grabbing a quick bite to re-fuel those pesky braincells in-between coding sessions!
  • 14:00-15:00 Doing a design session with the Product Manager and UX designer for a large upcoming feature that the team should pick up next week. You ask a lot of questions to drill down to the problem we are trying to solve, and suggest some easier solutions that require less effort for the team.
  • 15:00-16:00 The design session triggered some thoughts about other areas of the system that will be affected. You’re doing a quick dive in the affected areas of the code and find some technical debt that might affect the system’s scalability or reliability. You create a brief Jira ticket and tag the Product Manager to help get it prioritised and to ensure it is not forgotten. You also ping the ticket to one of the other domains' tech leads, as you recall them mentioning a similar problem existing in another domain team.
  • 16:00-16:30 Quick catch-up with the Engineering Manager on the teams delivery reliability and how you can help keep Work in Progress (WIP) and Pull Request (PR) review time to a minimum
  • 16:30-18:00 Talking about PR’s, there are actually still a few open. You take the last part of the day to review your teams PRs. There are some great solutions offered, but one of the junior engineers introduced some code that is difficult to maintain and is lacking unit tests. You jump on a quick call with them to explain the issues and why it matters.

What we offer
  • Competitive Compensation: We offer competitive pay based on market rates in the country of the applicant.
  • 100% Remote: Enjoy the freedom to work from anywhere within your country of residence—be it a co-working space, your home office, or even your dining room table. The choice is yours. Just don’t ask to work in our office (we don’t have one).
  • Equity: Every role in our company comes with valuable stock options in a fast-growing and profitable company. This ensures we all share in the company’s success.
  • Values-Driven Leadership: Our Core Values are not just words we’ve written to make us feel good. We leverage them daily when making strategic and tactical decisions.
  • Professional Growth: Our rapid growth offers unparalleled learning and development opportunities, along with a multitude of career advancement opportunities.

Thank you for your interest. If you apply for this role, you will receive an email from our Talent Acquisition team after your application has been reviewed alongside the qualifications for this role and the qualifications of others who have applied.
